A Virtual Sharing Conservation Strategies in the Pocono Kittatinny Region

The conservation organizations who are partners in the Poconos Kittatinny Cluster (PKC) under the Delaware River Watershed Initiative (DRWI) are gathering again to discuss conservation strategies in Pennsylvania. PKC partners working in the Pennsylvania state portion of the landscape include Delaware Highlands Conservancy, The Nature Conservancy, Natural Lands, Pocono Heritage Land Trust, East Stroudsburg University, and the Brodhead Watershed Association.  The PKC landscape includes portions of Monroe and Pike Counties in Pennsylvania.

Part of this process is sharing our mutual long-term visions with Federal, State, County, and other nonprofit agencies with an interest in conservation. We have scheduled a virtual meeting for Thursday, April 29th, 2021 at 8:45 am, to discuss current and future conservation priorities by organization and as a group.

Following is a draft agenda:

8:45 – 9:00: “Virtual Conference Lobby” Grab your coffee and catch up!

9:00 – 9:15: Introductions

9:15: Discussion of goals for the meeting; presentation of PKC’s DRWI Phase II, Year 4 milestones, adjusted timeline, activities, and technical assistance available.

10:00 – 11:00:  Presentation by each organization (approximately 5 – 7 minutes) in attendance of their current organizational conservation priorities. Organizations and agencies are welcome to discuss specific projects which might benefit from the input of attendees, but the intent of this section is to share each organization's and agency's priorities for the purpose of identifying where there is overlap and opportunities for collaboration with Phase II, year 4 of the DRWI.

  • land protection
  • municipal planning & pandemic development trends
  • virtual educational events best management practices
